It was a truly full and complicated past week, with the massacre in Israel ramping up my work life at Reboot while simultaneously preparing for my daughter’s Bat Mitzvah this past weekend (and how to keep a supremely joyous life event full of joy given the darkness caused by the utter terror of Hamas’ actions).
We were attending services via Zoom. Kaya did a wonderful job, David - yasher koach to her and Mazel Tov to the whole family, I'm sure you're very proud. A beautiful voice that transcended such difficult times.
That is unnecessary but so kind. I will say that Kaya did her Bat Mitzvah service work at Rancho Compassion, an incredible sanctuary for animals abused by commercial farms. That would be the organization to donate in her honor (but not necessary! But a kind thought). https://www.ranchocompasion.org/
I appreciated the article by Peter Beinart. Thank you for bringing that to us. I am grateful too that the NYT is bringing us this perspective as well. This is a perspective we all need to stand for and create peace in the land. The prospect of even greater violence is sickening and will bring no one peace nor security. I have not read the other articles yet that you linked to, but I am grateful to you for doing the research, and sharing it.
Congratulations on your daughter's Bat Mitzvah as well. What a time to entertain becoming an adult.

Please suggest somewhere I can donate $180 in honor of your B’nai mitzvah…
